I have been dreaming of getting a laptop to mix down track from the fantom x and I really love logic so that means a macbook/macbook pro. I have been reading a lot about issues with bus power on both units. That is the firewire buses do not supply enough power to the firewire audio interface to run it correctly. I think the problem is similar for USB/usb busses as well. My question is does anyone here have a macbook setup and if so what interface are you using and how is it working for you. I have used a lot of maudio gear and it is usually adequate although my 2496 craps out on my win XP DAW from time to time. I am on a tight budget ($200 or less). To this point I have only used PCI based interfaces. I always thought that USB was not to be used for audio as it didn’t have the bandwidth but I read a few compelling posts on other sites (wish I had the link) that made it sound like USB is fine if you are doing only a few channels at a time (which is what I would be doing). Anyone using a USB interface for their audio and midi? Which one are you using and how is that working? I would appreciate any and all opinions on this. Thanks s
