| I did a check on the DIGI Design site for their error logs. There's an update that's supposed to fix a few Assertion Errors. Before you try that though, try this... The DAE playback buffer should only be set to numbers higher than 2 when you are experiencing problems with drive speed or edit density. If you are not having these problems you should leave your playback buffer at the default setting of 2 unless you are getting 9073 or other errors that refer to your drive being to slow. If you are on a properly configured supported drive and are receiving these errors and encounter a session that won't bounce when you try a higher DAE playback buffer setting try duplicating the play lists in your session and consolidating the audio on your tracks. This should make it easier to playback the audio in your session and be a viable workaround. If you have been participating in this thread please chime in and let us know what DAE playback buffer sizes you have been using and if using the default of 2 resolves the issue for you.
Thanks again for your input,

Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1cs10 for Mac OS X contains the following:
Fixed: Importing Files By Drag and Drop Could Prevent The Session From Being Saved (Item #80417)
- MP3, MP4, WAV and AIFF were affected
- A subsequent Save, Save As, Save A Copy or Auto-Backup would result in an assertion error
- Note: this problem was inadvertently introduced in Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1cs9

One thing that's helped me a lot in the past is to use the answerbase at digidesign.com. Whenever you get an error message, type exactly the error in the answer base, and if someone else has reported the same error and the problem's been addressed, the solution is posted.
