http://www.producersedgemagazine.com/forumdownloads/presetsrollthrough.mp3The link above has just the MicroKorg running through a soft knee compressor- well, yeah, some patches are louder than others; it's a VA.

I threw some drums behind the patches- just so you could see the default place the leads and bass might take you.
The bonus bank has a mixture of sounds- some pads/evolving stuff. I wanted some variety.
For sound examples I was forced to do the thing I hate most and that's to roll through the presets pressing C4.
Some use envelopes and you need to let it play for a second.
Some patches, especially bass, are made to be triggered from the octaves.
Soundwise I cranked up some patches to overdrive so you could adjust the cutoff and not lose 90% of the output.
b.51 is one of those patches that sounds okay alone, but it's monophonic in such that one note cuts off the other and you get some wikked action when you play the sound. Low note triggers and the high note is the melody line.
So don't just press C4 and expect to get the full picture on every patch. You're not in Sam Ash trying to decide if you want to buy the MicroKorg based on these patches. You're in your studio trying to tap into that next sound.
Thanks for supporting the mag and hit me up with some feedback.
See ya in the lab.
